"Whitianga Electron Regatta 2004 - 13th November"
The CRC Sponsored Bucklands Beach Yacht Club Electron Regatta
was held at Whitianga on Saturday November 13
The Day dawned bright and clear and a steady north easter,
which produced excellent racing, was constant throughout the day.
32 boats including 4 from W.I.Y.C. took part in a series of elimination,
repercharge and then Finals Races, and racing was, to put it mildly, fiercely contested.
At the end of a great days racing the winner was none other than our very
own Greg Stenbeck and I am sure all members will join me in congratulating
Greg on this great performance. greg saile brilliantly all day and was a clear
and decisive winner.

The championship was reduced to 7 races after the wind disappeared - so only one race dropped.
OOD Ray Nixon, forgoing his own sailing to run the competition, tried his
very best in conditions which saw the wind go from nothing to 25 knots and back
to nothing, move through something like 90 degrees, and to top it off, give us
all a good drenching.
I chose to race this time, so NO PHOTOS of the racing. Still I did get some
photos of the prizegiving to record the day.
