Newsletter Number 112 from GoforGOLF ************************************************************************ Now in our 9TH YEAR with over ** 46,000 ** scorecards entered and courses from over 62 countries . . . and growing by the day. WE ARE PROUD TO HAVE CREATED THIS GOLFING ENVIRONMENT . . . ************************************************************************ IN THIS ISSUE *** THE CUT *** Competition Winner *** Holes in One and Eagles *** WIN ONE Dozen Premium Golf Balls *** HandiTIPS *** More Golf & Sports Links *** Provisional Ball ************************************************************************ *** THE CUT The end of the FedEx Cup seemed a bit of a let down, with Vijay Singh securing the US$10 Million in the 3 lead up events, and before the final Event. I don't know how they can change the set up, or why, as I suspect we will be looking to Tiger Woods to challenge, in 2009, with his 85% knee. (As he stated in an interview recently) Perhaps they reduce the points factor, so that the winner of a tournament does not get the same huge advantage . . . Americans like big scores . . . THE CUT . . . or keep your playing card . . . Each and every Golf Tour approaches the End of Year CUT, where you either have your playing card for 2009 or you have to survive on sponsor invitations. The European Tour has 3 events left, while the US Tour has five. The European Tour has a Cut off of 115, the US tour 125. This is a terrible time for those *** "On the Bubble" *** The amazing thing is that last year a player missed the CUT, his playing CARD, by only $77 dollars. On the Us Tour, Zach Johnson is in 125 place, with Rich Beem in 126th. Tom Lehman 127th $24,000 behind. All, I would have thought would have been top performers from last year. Add to that such names as Davis Love III, Carlos Franco, and some late performers, Tag Ridings and Jeff Overton. The good news for a Kiwi is that Tim Wilkinson is presently in 112th, and doing well in the currect US tournament. Go TIM. . . . . . . I do invite and encourage you to send me your views on events, or on my comments . . . to email . . . greg@goforgolf.com Enjoy your Golf Greg Paul GoforGOLF __________________________________________________________ *** SEPTEMBER COMPETITION The September Spot the Ball was won by A Richards of Ruakaka The winning position was d 6 Your prize will be on its way to you shortly.
