*** HOLES IN ONE and EAGLES
YES - A hole in one on the par 4 5th at Takapuna Golf Club off the blue tee on 9th June by a North Harbour Junior golfer.
*** BUT - NOT JUST - A HOLE IN ONE - AN ALBATROSS AS WELL ***
(A Par round and Stableford of 52 . . . and there was a witness)
Bradley writes " . . . What a drive! It flew 30 metres above the ground and landed 255 metres away and then started to roll down a slight hill, hit the bottom and rolled onto the green. After that I couldn't see it any more but thought I might get an eagle. But when I got there I couldn't find it. I thought I'd lost it, until my partner sunk his and found mine (in the hole). What a shot !!!"
Well Done Bradley Scheigis.
EAGLES - The eagles have dried up, with the exception of our now GoforGOLF eagle regular, Rob Dinsdale, with another couple at Northland Golf Club and on consecutive days. What a great run of eagles since March, including a 6 under par round.
Watch your handicap Rob !!!

*** Slope Rating & Handicapping System
GoforGOLF has now updated the website for the USGA Slope Rating System, so that ALL our GoforGOLF members in the countries using the Slope Rating System, can take advantage of the handicapping system.
For non slope countries, simply ignore the USGA Slope option.
But if you are in a Slope Rating country, go to your master record,
and tick the box -
'Normally use USGA Slope Rating for score entry'.
You can 'Change Your Details' by returning to the home page after 'Signing In' and select the 'Change Your Details' button.
We have not had any further updates from the NZGA although we understand there is to be a mailout in August.
*** For the Interested
There are a number of web sites that have information on the Slope system. These include simple overviews and historical articles, through to detailed explanations with full formulas etc. The USGA website has their Slope Manual online.
I have listed a number of websites that include articles and information on the Slope System in our 'News & Links' section.
Just click - http://www.goforgolf.com/links.asp
and keep an eye on GoforGOLF for further info.
Have a look at the other interesting links while you are there.
*** NEW to GoforGOLF- Changing your HANDICAP ***
You no longer have to go back to the home page to access the 'Change your Details' button to change your handicap. You can now change your handicap at the same time as entering a scorecard. Overtype your new handicap and click the tickbox alongside and your handicap will be updated automatically when you 'submit' your score.

*** HandiTIPS
1. Up and Downs - The GoforGOLF web site has been designed so that you can put your own definition to the 'Up and Downs', and as long as you are consistent with your definition, your reports will be consistent and comparable.
For a pro golfer, an 'Up and Down' is where you have missed the green for your GIR, and you still achieve par (usually with a chip and one putt).
However, for us (mid and high handicappers), it can be defined
- if your approach shot has missed the green, and you then do a chip and one putt
- Or once you are within about 70 metres, or inside pitching wedge distance, and you achieve a chip and one putt.
Choose one of these options, and remain consistent, and you will be able to compare your results.
2. A Circled Score - If you pick up your ball on a hole, for handicapping purposes, you normally enter a circled score. In GoforGOLF I suggest you enter an estimated score for the hole, so that your score record is completed, then tick the 'Circle' box for the hole. GoforGOLF will then include zero stableford points, and calculated your 'corrected' score based on your handicap for your Score Report.
Etiquette - It is good etiquette to pick up your ball if you have strayed, so that you do not hold up the groups behind. (Remember . . . don't pick up your ball if you are competing in an official stroke play competition).
3. Temporary Holes - If your club/course has temporary holes during repairs or alterations to the course, send me the details. I will load a temporary scorecard for that period, so that your Score Report is calculated correctly for the different Par etc., and so that your scoring averages are not effected by the change.
Email me on . . . greg@goforgolf.com . . . and I will help you with any problems you may have with registering and entering your scorecards and courses.
REMEMBER the more scorecards you enter, the better the analysis you will receive from GoforGOLF.
