The winning position was b 5 . Your golf balls will be on their way to you soon. See below for details of the APRIL Spot the Ball Contest. __________________________________________________________ *** HOLES IN ONE and EAGLES A quiet month in March. However, I did get an email from 72 year old, Michael Quirk. Michael "was playing in a local vets tourney at Levin, when he had a hole in one on the 122m par 3 14th. I hit a 6 iron and we saw it go close and then lost sight of it. I assumed it had gone behind the flag. Life in the old dog yet". Michael took up golf after 15 years of coaching soccer, and after taking some lessons got his handicap down to 12. He now plays off 18 to 20, and continues to work on club committees, presently on the organising committee of the Otaki mixed vets tourney in September. Well done Michael. Tell us your story !!! (Our promise of confidentiality does not allow us to publish your names, without your permission - let us know if you make a hole in one, eagle or albatross). _________________________________________________________ *** APRIL COMPETITION Presently sponsored by GoforGOLF ONE Dozen Golf Balls " SPOT the BALL " To enter the contest, enter the coordinates of the position you think the ball is. Choose only one coordinate across and one down. a) Across - (between a and n) ? b) Down - (between 1 and 12) ? TO ENTER - CLICK on the banner advert or menu item on GoforGOLF http://www.goforgolf.co.nz or go direct to the entry form at http://www.goforgolf.co.nz/contest.asp The GoforGOLF Newletter Editor has identified the spot. The Editors decision is final. Yes that is me. (and there is the usual small print?) You can submit more than one entry, but they must be done separately. Include your address . . . how else can we send you the prize. No correspondence or discussion will be entered into. __________________________________________________________ *** HandiTIPS *** 1. Associate Members DID YOU KNOW !!! You can add Associates to your registration. Their scores are entered through your registration, but are kept separate and reported separately. Ideal for Families, Schools and Teams. And if they want to set up their own GoforGOLF record, their scores can be moved to their new registration. See http://www.goforgolf.com/help.asp for more information. 2. Entering a NEW Course - STROKE Many terms in golf vary from country to country. When entering a new course into GoforGOLF the term 'Stroke' is often missinterpreted as your first score. However, it is necessary to enter the course, before you are able to enter your score. The term 'Stroke' refers to 'Stroke Index' which is often referred to as 'Handicap' on many scorecards. This is the rating of the hole between 1 and 18, where 1 is the hardest hole, and 18 is the easiest. Each hole must have a unique stroke. Don't get this confused with PAR, also know as Par Rating, which is the number of shots a zero handicap player is expected to take on that hole, usually 3, 4 or 5. REMEMBER the more scorecards you enter, the better the analysis you will receive from GoforGOLF. __________________________________________________________ *** MORE GOLF & SPORTS LINKS The first MAJOR is NEXT week . . .
