This month's winner is from the North Otago Golf Club, Oamaru, NZ. Your video 'A lesson with Leadbetter - Taking it to the course' will be on its way to you shortly. __________________________________________________________ *** HOLES IN ONE and EAGLES A Hole in One during June. 5th June Burnham Camp Golf Club 11th White Tee Colin Murphy Colin tells us, "I played at Burnham Camp and hit a 3 iron into the 190m par 3 11th. Unfortunately all I saw, being short sighted in one eye and long sighted in the other, was the ball bounce at the front of the green and thought that should be alright. I got to the green and couldn't find the ball. I started looking at the back of the green thinking that the ball had shot through off the frosty fringe of the green. One of my four suggested it might be in the used hole, which it wasn't, then he said, standing at the hole, 'come and get it out of here then'. My brother had one at Waimarino a few weeks ago, my other brother has his listed in the GoforGOLF Forum, and My Dad has two. So Dad and all his three sons now have a Hole in One." Colin also mentions there was another Hole in One on the same hole on 30 May, and another GoforGOLFer tells us of a Hole in One on the 120m 9th hole at Wattle Downs Golf and Country Club on 24th June. AND still the eagles continue. 1st June Hamilton Golf Club 4th Red Tee David Enright 7th June Silverstream Public Golf Course 9th Green Tee Congratulations to all successful GoforGOLFers. (Our promise of confidentiality does not allow us to publish your names, without your permission). _________________________________________________________ *** JULY Competition This month the prize is 'The Practice Book' by Jorg Vanden Berge This book covers every aspect of golf with exercises to help improve your performance. I have had surgery - can I get my handicap adjusted? A GoforGOLFer has sent us this helpful advice. He had recently had surgery, and during rehabilitation was unable to play to his previous handicap. Playing to that handicap meant that he had no possibility in any comp or scramble, taking away his encouragement of using golf to help his recuperation. His enquiries uncovered the following procedure: a. Forward a letter to the Chief Executive Officer New Zealand Golf Assn P O Box 11 842 Wellington Attn: NZGA Handicap & Course Rating Committee b. Include details of type of surgery/accident etc. and the date(s) and your expected recovery time before resuming full play. (A doctors note would be helpful I suspect). c. Pass the letter to your Club Secretary to send in. This is important, as the request must be requested through the club committee. (I presume they have to recommend to the NZGA the adjustment to your handicap). A recent email from the GoforGOLFer lets us know, however, that after much 'bumbling' around no decision was received. However, he has started playing golf again and is starting to pick up the threads. All the best with your recovery and thanks for the information. 2. Lessons - Another HandiTip received from a GoforGOLFer. " I would recommend that all golfers have a lesson with the pro using a video camera. I did so yesterday and have noticed the things I were doing wrong straight away and enjoyed my game much better today, coming home with four pars and a birdie". This tip was received from John Snow in June 2000, but is just as relevant 12 months later. Thanks again, I agree totally. Email me on . . . greg@goforgolf.com . . . and I will help you with any problems you may have with registering and entering your scorecards and courses. REMEMBER the more scorecards you enter, the better the analysis you will receive from GoforGOLF. __________________________________________________________ *** SUGGESTIONS, QUESTIONS & COMMENTS Suggestions, questions and comments are welcomed. Upon seeing the hearse, one of the players stopped and put his hat over his heart as the procession passed. "That was really a nice gesture," one of his buddies said. "Hey, it's the least I could do. Sunday would have been our 35th wedding anniversary!"
