All the functions are still there, and we have left the flag and the football buttons you know so well on the front page. But all the functions now also show on the left hand menu. Nothing is hidden and many functions are much improved. 1. The Course Finder has been streamlined, and has an additional feature of being able to search by a course / club name. 2. The Analysis and Edit Reports are accessible from the menu, but remember you have to 'Sign In' before you can run any of your reports, edit or analyse your scores. 3. The 'Change your Details' button is easily seen on the menu once you have 'Signed In'. 4. The 'Newsletter' archive and Monthly Competition is now on the menu also. 5. All Course / Club pages are now on the same menu. Where a club has that page available, the button will be bright and colourful, and will react when you move you cursor over it. If it is not available it will be dull and unreactive. 6. Courses can have many of the pages for no cost. Check out the 'For Clubs' page on the menu for more details. 7. Advertisers can now have more than one size of advertising banner. We are also happy to discuss alternatives. See our HandiTIPS section below for more hints on how to take advantage of the new power of GoforGOLF. View our GoforGOLF Demonstration Course to see what each and every club can have. http://www.goforgolf.com/courseinfo.asp?course=207 AND don't miss our Slice o' NEWS, CHIPS Photo Gallery, Useful LINKS, Coaching TIPS, and more. We hope you enjoy the new functions and features of GoforGOLF. Your __________________________________________________________ *** COMPETITION WINNER Congratulations to the winner of our July competition. This month's winner is from Flaxmere, Hastings. Your prize of a Video about Old Tom Morris . . . will be on its way to you shortly. __________________________________________________________ *** HOLES IN ONE and EAGLES The weather in my area of the world seems to have effected the run of Holes in One and Eagles in July. Just One Eagle. 15th July Riversdale Golf Club 15th Blue Tee However, I have received a couple of Hole in One stories, but, remember guys to enter your score into GoforGOLF to keep a record of your event. Bob (retired) tells us, "In May I hit a really lucky shot at the Otaki Golf Course's Par 3 17th of 129m. The ball came sailing out, a little to the right of the pin, collected a little hill and bounced to the left, then bounced to the right and rolled straight up to the hole. I couldn't believe it . . . sure enough, when we got to the green, my lovely little ball was in the bottom of the cup. My opponent was not very happy to have to concede the match this way! Needless to say I was ecstatic, and also very, very lucky! Mike tells us about a trip to Formosa Country Club. "It was a calm afternoon, but wet under foot . . . The 2nd is a 165m par 3, with carry over 'tricky' rough [in a valley]. My shot with a 6 iron looked 'dangerous' all the way...the ball heading straight for the hole...because of the distance and the placing of the pin on the lower level of the green...we all heard it strike the flag stick...I approached the ball in the bunker, which I discovered was a stray and not mine. I asked my playing partner to check the hole ? only for him to discover that to my surprise and elation, my ball was in the hole. Incidentally, my "hole in one" is the 1st hole in one for a member at Formosa this "Century". " Congratulations to all successful GoforGOLFers. (Our promise of confidentiality does not allow us to publish your names, without your permission). _________________________________________________________ *** AUGUST COMPETITION This month the prize is a copy of the 2002 Edition of GOLF RULES ILLUSTRATED This is an excellent, easily read book on the golf rules, and is 'An Official Publication of the R & A' *** Answer these two questions to be in the draw *** 2002 Edition of GOLF RULES ILLUSTRATED Last month's questions must have been too obscure,
so well done to those that found the answer in our 'Slice o' NEWS'.
After the huge interest the week before with THE OPEN, last weekend seemed a little quiet. It did provide some excitement from the TNT Open in the Netherlands, 25 to 28 July, when a little known German from the European Tour, with only one previous tour win, hit a 60 on the first round for a 6 shot lead and held on to win the tournament by one shot. Check out the latest results in our Slice o' NEWS section http://www.goforgolf.com/sliceonews.asp Answer these two simple questions, a) Name the Winner of the TNT Open ? b) Name one of the next three players ? TO ENTER - CLICK on the banner advert on the GoforGOLF website http://www.goforgolf.co.nz or go direct to the entry form at http://www.goforgolf.co.nz/contest.asp The winners will be drawn from the correct entries by the management of Sports Information Management Ltd. The results will be final. (and there is the usual the small print?) No correspondence or discussion will be entered into. __________________________________________________________ *** HandiTIPS 1. FIND a COURSE - Improved We have taken the basic functions of the 'Find a Course' function, and have added some extras to help the ease of finding the course you have played, or the course you wish to play. It is now set out in three steps. Firstly, if you have selected a course as your default course, the Course Finder will default to that course. Otherwise it will default to our Demonstration Course. To Find a Course - The input boxes are numbered to help. 1) Select a Country - All selections from now will search the country you have selected. This will have defaulted to your own country if you have selected a default course, in your details. 2) Then you can select: BY LOCATION - just as before OR - SEARCH By NAME - entering part of the club name OR - VIEW FULL DIRECTORY - Which will list all courses for the country either by Name or Location Click on the Club / Course name on the list and you will return to the 'Select a Course' page with the course displayed in the 'COURSE' box 3) ENSURE the course you seek is displayed in the Box 3 If the course you seek is not already displayed in the 'Course Box', you can click the arrow, and select a course from the same location or commence again. VIEW - Once you have the chosen course displayed in '3' you can 'VIEW Course Information' OR . . . if entering a score, go to the next section to start the INPUT SCORE SECTION. 2. Input Your Score Section This is the same as before. The course you have selected will be shown at the top of the 'Enter your Score' section. It will then show the 'Current Tee' for you to select. You then 'Click' the ENTER SCORE, but, may need to select or tick that you want to enter an 'ADVANCED SCORE' and whether you want to use THE 'Slope System'. (If you have loaded a course, you will also see buttons that allow 'you' to edit the course and tees that you have added). 3. Associate Players - If you have 'associates' these will be listed in the 'Current Player' box for you to select in the same way as before. 4. Edit and Analyse your Scores The Edit and Analyse section is at the bottom of the same page. The functions are the same, just regrouped together. This is also now accessible through a new menu button, but you do need to have 'Signed In' before using this option. I will be totally rewriting the HELP section over the next week or so, so I ask that you are patient with our upgrade. __________________________________________________________ *** SUGGESTIONS, QUESTIONS & COMMENTS Suggestions, questions and comments are welcomed.
