GoforGOLF . . . NEWSLETTER SEVENTY ONE . . . GoforGOLF
Newsletter Number 71 from GoforGOLF ************************************************************************ Now in our 7TH YEAR with over 32,000 scorecards entered and courses from over 53 countries . . . and growing by the day. WE ARE PROUD TO HAVE CREATED THIS GOLFING ENVIRONMENT . . . ************************************************************************ IN THIS ISSUE *** The Master of the Masters *** Competition Winner *** Holes in One and Eagles *** WIN ONE Dozen Premium Golf Balls *** HandiTIPS *** More Golf & Sports Links *** Sudden Death ************************************************************************ *** THE MASTER of the Masters Was that not just an enthrawling Masters Highlighted for me by the terrific battle to the end by Chris DiMarco, but that probably overshadowed by the incredible chip on the 16th by Tiger. The Tiger Magic was back, and MAGIC can be the only way one can create such a shot, with the tension, surprise, and elation that followed. From Tiger, "All of a sudden it looked pretty good, then all of a sudden it looked really good and it looked like 'how could it not go in?' and [then] 'how did it not go in?' and, all of a sudden . . . it went in." When I first saw him in the final round I said, "he is going to win". He had his RED shirt on. BUT, that doesn't explain how he got the ball to stop on the edge of the hole, WITH the Nike logo in full view. You wonder why Nike pay Tiger so much . . . I have recently read that Nike's brand value is around US$8.7 billion. Yes billion. The sales of the Tiger collar-less shirts alone is over US$5 million. And when Tiger is in contention in the final round, TV ratings increase incredibly. That ball hanging on the edge of the hole must have been worth . . . millions in sales for Nike. Something else for the statisticians, if you don't already know, the Masters was Tigers 134th consecutive cut. That's now 135. . . . . . . ALSO needing comment is ANNIKA Sorenstam's FANTASTIC recent record of 5 WINS in a row on the LPGA Tour, collecting her 8th MAJOR title, and starting her on the way to achieving the first Golf Grandslam. . . . . . . The only reason Annika doesn't get a write up like Tiger is that I saw Tiger at the Masters live on TV, and didn't see any coverage of Annika. Sorry Annika . . . Come on Sports TV help me out . . . . . . I do invite and encourage you to send me your views on my comments to email greg@goforgolf.com Greg Paul __________________________________________________________ *** APRIL COMPETITION The winner for April was Karyn Ferguson, Whangarei, New Zealand. I used a 3 wood. The ball went quite high, and for a moment I thought I had hooked it, only for it to fade right. It must have hit the pin and gone straight in as it was travelling very fast. My eyes aren't what they once were, and I thought that the ball must have been behind the pin or even worse, off the green. My partner, who was watching from the ladies tee, called out, "its in the hole". I still wasn't convinced until I pulled out the pin and the ball, (topfight #1) popped out with it" Other GoforGOLF Hole in One & Eaglers, send me a short description of your success for inclusion in the next newsletter. Congratulations to all successful GoforGOLFers. Just register again using another name, the Team name or nickname, and you are underway. 3. Newsletter Maintenance. We are about to do maintenance to the newsletter database. This involves the deleting of email addresses that continue to be bounced. If from next month, you do not receive a newsletter, please check your email address. The bouncing of emails can sometimes be a temporary fault and we are unable to identify this. Also, if you receive more than one newsletter it means you have registered twice. Email me with the two registration numbers, they are shown beside your name, and I will make the correction. Email me on . . . greg@goforgolf.com . . . and I will help you with any problems you may have with registering and entering your scorecards and courses.
