Newsletter Number 73 from GoforGOLF ************************************************************************ Now in our 7TH YEAR with over 33,000 scorecards entered and courses from over 53 countries . . . and growing by the day. WE ARE PROUD TO HAVE CREATED THIS GOLFING ENVIRONMENT . . . ************************************************************************ IN THIS ISSUE *** The US Open *** Competition Winner *** Holes in One and Eagles *** WIN TWO TWO Dozen Premium Golf Balls - Jackpot *** HandiTIPS *** More Golf & Sports Links *** Reading the Green ************************************************************************ *** The US OPEN After a comment from a lady GoforGOLFer that I didn't cover enough Ladies Golf, I hope I have made amends with the coverage of the Ladies US Open and this weeks Match Play Championship. However, it is difficult to do justice to the Ladies comps, when the mens' are much more visible, the players much more recognised and known, and the drama is so incredible such as the final day of the US Open. As a Kiwi (New Zealander) Golf Player, I found myself watching a lot of television on the weekend of the US Open. No one had picked Michael Campbell in our CD competition, (see below), and I don't blame them. Neither had I. In fact, it seemed a long shot he would get into the top 20 given his history in the USA and over the last few years. Still, he can surprise, as he does on occassions, with a tournament win, showing he does have the stuff, to foot it with the best. Of course, what made it even more terrific for all Kiwi golfers, was to see Kiwis 1st and 2nd . . . with Tiger's Kiwi Caddie, Stevie Williams right there at the finish. Now with our Rugby Team, The All Blacks, beating the British & Ireland Lions, our Ladies Netball Team convincingly beating the Australians, and our MX motorbike riders Josh Coppins and Ben Townley winning in Europe, (to mention just a few), New Zealand sports addicts like myself, are running on a high. . . . . . . * * * BE IN TO WIN * * * No one picked Michael Campbell so we will try again with THE OPEN Email me at greg@goforgolf.com . . . with the email "subject" entered as "THEOPEN" with your pick for the winner of the . . . GoforGOLF, Your Golf RECORD, with Analysis 'Like the Pros' Enter your scorecards into GoforGOLF AND create a record of your golf. GoforGOLF has been designed to be very flexible, while supplying you with a consistent record of your games and your results. The MORE scorecards you enter the better the analysis you will be able to receive. The Summary Report allows you to select a course, as well as select a period, 'From . . . to . . .'. Whatever period you wish, winter compared to summer, this month compared to last month etc. The Standard Report is a quick report for the last 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 days, or all games. The Standard Report only displays hole by hole averages, for gross, corrected and stableford scores, and for some fun, your best score on each hole. The ADVANCED Report gives you FULL flexibility of being able to select a course and any period you wish. You can use the Advanced Report even if you haven't entered any 'Advanced Scores'. If you have entered Advanced scorecards, you will ALSO receive analysis of your putts, fairways hit, Greens in regulation and more. Have a look at a sample report, click http://www.goforgolf.com/exampleadv.asp 2. Updated Scorecards . . . We do our best to keep scorecards updated. STILL we rely on golf clubs, and yourselves ... GoforGOLFers, to let us know of changes to courses, whether permanent or only temporary changes. Email or snail mail me with any changes to your course, and I will update it straight away. IF your Home Course, when you Sign In, appears with three dots at the end, it indicates the scorecard has changed to some degree and we have had to enter the new scorecard separately. Go back to the home page, by click the GoforGOLF logo . . . and you will find a 'Change your Details' button on the green menu. Click, then change your 'Home Course' to the new scorecard entry. 3. US Slope Rating System If you are from a country that has the US Slope Rating Handicapping system, then remember to tick the appropriate box in your master details. Click the 'Change our details' on the green menu, so that GoforGOLF will automatically adjust your Handicap Index for the course you are playing. Even the "friendliest" -looking green will have some tricks up its sleeve, and many are downright ornery. Thus the message of any given green can range from 'Aim three ballsoutside the left edge" to "You'll be lucky to get down in four, and those are the ugliest pants I have ever seen.
