GoforGOLF . . . NEWSLETTER SEVENTY FIVE . . . GoforGOLF

Newsletter Number 75 from GoforGOLF ************************************************************************ Now in our 7TH YEAR with over 34,000 scorecards entered and courses from over 53 countries . . . and growing by the day. WE ARE PROUD TO HAVE CREATED THIS GOLFING ENVIRONMENT . . . ************************************************************************ IN THIS ISSUE *** The Funny Season Commences *** Competition Winner *** Holes in One and Eagles *** WIN ONE Dozen Premium Golf Balls *** HandiTIPS *** More Golf & Sports Links *** The Lay-Up ************************************************************************ *** The Funny Season Commences The Majors are over, and what a great year it has been. I have to mention the incredible win by Kiwi, Michael Campbell but, have to also mention, Phil's great win, 'the best player never to win a Major' now part of his history, and the greatest, Tiger Woods, showing his strength once again. I will also remember, with tears in my eyes, seeing Steve Williams, Tiger's Kiwi caddie, being first to congratulate Michael, as Michael gathered himself to walk off the 18th green to sign his card and face the media onslaught. You will have noticed the Michael Campbell photo and news on the front page of GoforGOLF since his win. The photo is one of mine. It has been even more incredible that Michael Campbell's top placing, has continued, with top six places in the last two majors, and recently a second the other day to Retief Goosen in China. ****** The Solhiem Cup . . . The Ladies Ryder Cup - is presently underway. Presently . . . 8 ALL . . . with only the singles to go . . . I am sure it is no less competitive than the Mens version, with some top golf from the terrific ladies from Europe and Usa. http://www.solheimcup.com/ ****** AND the Presidents Cup . . . starts on the 23rd September The USA versus the International Team Shame Ernie Els is not available thru injury, but great that Michael Campbell is in great form to fill the position. The names on the 2 teams are very impressive . . . I list: Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Davis Love III, Justin Leonard to name just a few, and of course, captains choice, my favorite, Fred Couples. And then for Europe, a just as impressive list: Number 2, Vijay Singh, SA's Retief Goosen, Angel Cabrera from Argintina, and a string of Ockers, Stuart Appleby, Nick O'Hern, Mark Hensby, Peter Lonard, another couple of top of South Africans, Tim Clark and captains choice, Trevor Immelman . . . Add to that Canada's lefty Mike Weir and an inform Kiwi, Michael Campbell. ****** I am looking forward to these International Challenges . . . ****** I do invite and encourage you to send me your views on my comments to email greg@goforgolf.com Greg Paul *** For an update on Ernie Els' knee injury go to his website http://www.ernieels.com/ __________________________________________________________ *** AUGUST COMPETITION The winner of the August ** Spot the Ball ** is Allan Drever of Palmerston North. Your golf balls are on their way to you. The winning position was C 7. See below for details of the SEPTEMBER Spot the Ball Contest. ********** THE 2005 US PGA CHAMPIONSHIP . . . THE Last 2005 MAJOR For a copy of the CD: "Play Better Golf" by hypnotherapist Grant Boddington http://www.nzhypnosis.com/play-better-golf-cd.html No one picked Phil Mickelson - So I have picked out 3 winners, Keith, Wayne & Allan (I will email you all for delivery addresses) __________________________________________________________ *** HOLES IN ONE and EAGLES A couple of EAGLES in August 3rd Aug Marriot Meon Valley Golf Course 8th Yellow Tee 5th Aug Springfield Golf Club 18th Blue Tee GoforGOLF Hole in One & Eaglers, send me a short description of your success for inclusion in the next newsletter. Ian tells us about his Hole in One. " At 172 metres, number 6 hole slopes downwards, then across a large pond which takes up most of the fairway. I used a 3 wood. The ball went quite high, and for a momnet I thought I had hooked it, only for it to fade right. The ball landed about 4 metres from the hole at about the 7 o'clock position. It must have hit the pin and dropped straight in as it was traveilling very fast. My partner who was watching from the women's tee, called out "it's in the hole". I still wasn't convined until I pulled out the flag and the ball (topflight #1) popped out with it. " Congratulations to all successful GoforGOLFers. (Our promise of confidentiality does not allow us to publish your names, without your permission - let us know if you make a hole in one, eagle or albatross). _________________________________________________________ *** SEPTEMBER COMPETITION The prize is sponsored by the NZ Golf Magazine ONE Dozen Premium Brand Golf Balls " SPOT the BALL " To enter the contest, enter the coordinates of the position you think the ball is. A REAL Handi Tip A most useful tip to know is that if you click on the GoforGOLF logo on the top left of each page, it will return you to the Home Page. Very helpful if you get lost in GoforGOLF 2. Internet Things You may from time to time have a problem with the links in this Newsletter. This seems to be an internet problem, and not a problem with the GoforGOLF website. If you try the same link again, it will more than likely connect without a problem. 3. Added a course recently ? Don't forget to add the other tees for the course. Go to the 'Enter a Score' page, and in the second/yellow box, you will find an 'Add Tee' button alongside the Current Tee display. You don't have to enter the club details again, just the information for the new tee. (Tick the box at the end of the line, if you are entering a Ladies Tee - This enable different 'Hole Strokes' from the mens tee). It's easy 4. Did you Register years ago? Don't register again. Just email me and I will send you your access number and password. And keep your info updated. Click on the "Change your details". And for security, change your password from time to time, but, don't make it too complicated, you are not protecting the crown jewels. REMEMBER the more scorecards you enter, the better the analysis you will receive from GoforGOLF. __________________________________________________________ *** NEW ZEALAND GOLF MAGAZINE We continue in our endeavours to develop and improve the GOLF Magazine.
