GoforGOLF . . . NEWSLETTER SEVENTY SEVEN . . . GoforGOLF
Newsletter Number 77 from GoforGOLF ************************************************************************ Now in our 7TH YEAR with over 35,000 scorecards entered and courses from over 53 countries . . . and growing by the day. WE ARE PROUD TO HAVE CREATED THIS GOLFING ENVIRONMENT . . . ************************************************************************ IN THIS ISSUE *** Colin Montgomerie *** Competition Winner *** Holes in One and Eagles *** WIN ** JACKPOT ** TWO Dozen Premium Golf Balls *** HandiTIPS *** More Golf & Sports Links *** Hole Out ************************************************************************ *** COLIN MONTGOMERIE WELL what can you say ... The 8th European Tour TITLE by Colin Montgomerie, after 7 in a row in the 90's, Colin has capped of a great season with a third and THE Top Money position, defeating Michael Campbell's great effort, obviously including the US Open win. Then there is the incredible race to make the REAL CUT, for those players trying to retain their card on either the US or European Tours. The US Tour Cut Off is at 125, and terrific to see that Craig Parry and Nick Price have made it through. Their earnings for the year only US$620,000 A quick review of those who have missed their Full ticket, include Todd Hamilton at 133rd, Hunter Mahan at 129th and Ben Curtis at 130th. If I am right, the cut off for the European Tour is at 115, which has Terry Price right on the mark, and it is neat to see that, now Kiwi resident, Peter Fowler is at 110th. Unfortunately, Kiwi Stephen Scahill is at 128th, with Ozzie Peter Senior at 131. The European schedule goes to 353rd . . . I add, that Niclas fasth, the winner of the NZ Open has continued his good early season form finishing in 13th place on EURO 1,316,000 FINALLY I have to comment on the BILLION DOLLAR target for tour donations being passed by the USPGA Tour. Is that not fantastic. .......... I do invite and encourage you to send me your views on my comments to email greg@goforgolf.com Greg Paul ......... *** ERNIE ELS to make his come back at Sun City - See below Ernie has finished in 18th place on the tour after only playing 11 tournaments. I'll be watching Ernie's placings climb, once he is back on the TOURS, with having a great break, I can only imagine he will come back with even more enthusiasm . . . I can't wait. http://www.ernieels.com/ __________________________________________________________ *** OCTOBER COMPETITION * NO WINNERS ** for the September ** Spot the Ball ** The winning position was D 7 See below for details of the NOVEMBER Spot the Ball Contest. And Now we have a *** JACKPOT *** of TWO Dozen Balls __________________________________________________________ *** HOLES IN ONE and EAGLES An EAGLES, ALBATROSS & HOLE IN ONE in October: Hole in One 24th Oct Sanctuary Cove - The Palms 2nd Red Tee Albatross 5th Oct Bungay Brook Golf Club 13th Blue Tee Eagle 8th Oct Laytown & Bettystown Golf Club 4th White Tee The Hole in One and Albatross were scored by two of the earliest members of GoforGOLF, Well Done. Brenda describes her hole in one, "The pin was tucked in near the right hand bunker on the second hole, 112m par3. I took my 6 iron as there was a cross wind and I wanted to get to the middle of the green. I saw the ball bounce once in front, about 2 or 3 feet, sending up sand from the green, then I bent over to pick up my clubs and missed seeing the ball hit the pin and run down into the hole. My partners were very happy with my contribution of a 5 pointer to the team score." Congratulations to all successful GoforGOLFers.
