This is restricted to the winners of 2005 US PGA Tournaments, and includes most of the top players on the US Tour. The competition was fierce from the start, with Stuart Appleby winning on the first playoff hole from Vijay Singh. US Open winner Michael Campbell chased well until slipping back to 4th on the final day. Is this an indicator of things to come this year ? See current results on: http://www.goforgolf.com/a_sliceonews.asp It was great to see Ernie Els back playing and showing good form with a 2nd in the African Airways Open, behind Retief Goosen. And some interesting Statistics to start the year: Of course, Tiger Woods has lost his 1st place with 142 consecutive events, the top position presently held by Ernie Els with 24, followed by Phil Mickelson on 21. Tiger still leads the 100-club, with Byron Nelson (113) in second place and Jack Nicklaus (105) the only other member. The most cuts made are 587 by Tom Kite. Raymond Floyd (583) then Jay Haas (575) and Arnold Palmer (543). The most top-10 finishes are 358 by Sam Snead. The most in one season, 31 by Harold Jug McSpaden in 1945. The most consecutive top-10s are 65 by Byron Nelson between 1942 and 1946. 2005 Stats: Drive Yards; Scott Hend 318.9 Tiger Woods 316.1 Euro Daniel Vancsik 309.0 Drive Accuracy: Jeff Hart 76% Fred Funk 75.9 % Euro Peter O'Malley 87.5% Greens in Reg: Sergio Garcia 71.8% Joe Durant 70.9% Euro Titch Moore 81.9% Putting: Arjun Atwal 1.710 Steve Stricker 1.713 Have a great golfing year. At Hickory Nut Golf Course. I was on the 3rd hole (145 yards). I was using a 5 iron and when I hit it the ball it went pure and straight. We saw it bounce one time, then it disappeared. I said to my friends it either went over the back or in the hole. When we arrived at the green we first looked in the back but saw no ball. I walked up to the hole and there it was at the bottom of the hole. What a thrill ! " Remember to enter your score so your hole in one is recorded on GoforGOLF. Congratulations to all successful GoforGOLFers. Circled Score I am frequently asked what the "circled" score function is in GoforGOLF. This is called different things in different countries. Click on the link below and go to the HandiTips section http://www.goforgolf.co.nz/newsletter/news64.asp 2. New Members - WELCOME - Some useful TIPS To help you enjoy GoforGOLF I make the following suggestions: a. Password - Don't make it too difficult or too long, as you need to type it in each time you visit GoforGOLF. (Unless you choose to 'automatically' remember it). Please do not start with a zero, '0', as it makes it difficult for us to search if you forget your password. b. If you forget your access number or password, don't register again, use the 'Forgot your Details?' button on the green menu, and we will email you back. Send us your access number if you can, it is on your last newsletter. Remember, the more scores you enter, the better the analysis will be. c. Select your Home or Default course. This can be the most used course you play, and it will automatically load when you 'Sign In'. You can still select other courses in the usual way, but, this will save you time when you play your own/usual course. This is accessed through the 'Change your Details' button on the green menu, once you have 'Signed In'. d. You can change your 'Handicap Index' at the time you enter your score. Just tick the box alongside the 'Handicap Index' once you have selected the course you played and have entered the date you played, and your master information will be updated, ready for next time. REMEMBER the more scorecards you enter, the better the analysis you will receive from GoforGOLF. __________________________________________________________ *** NEW ZEALAND GOLF MAGAZINE We continue in our endeavours to develop and improve the GOLF Magazine.
