The Ryder Cup is in September. As for the US PGA, can we go past Tiger as the winner. With his win at The Open, and leading the Buick open, it appears his form is right on schedule. That's not to say that the others are not going to be chasing hard, with Vijay close behind in the Buick, and Phil, Ernie and Retief showing out in various tournaments. There are a few others, including a bunch of Auzzies, but, my bet, is it will be one of the above, and I am picking Tiger. . . . . . * * * BE IN TO WIN * * * THE PGA Competition * * * Email me at greg@goforgolf.com with the "subject" . . . "The PGA" WITH YOUR PICK for the winner, and be in to win a copy of the CD "Play Better Golf" by Top hypnotherapist Grant Boddington http://www.nzhypnosis.com/play-better-golf-cd.html (In the case of more than one correct entry, I will draw a winner, or 2) - - - - - Again there was no winner for THE OPEN, what ? nobody chose Tiger . . . So I chose Charlie Burr and Kath Wilkes as the winners of the CD's. Email me with your delivery details. Enjoy the Golf Greg Paul I do invite and encourage you to send me your views on my comments to email greg@goforgolf.com __________________________________________________________ *** JUNE / JULY COMPETITION The winner of the June/July Spot the Ball is Latasha Foley. Include your email address . . . how else can we notify the winner. No correspondence or discussion will be entered into. __________________________________________________________ *** HandiTIPS 1. Your Handicap Index GoforGOLF does not calculate your Handicap. Members of clubs have their handicap calculated by their Official National Golf Association - Any difference in the entering of scorecards would cause differences AND confusion. SO WE allow you to update your Official "Handicap Index" when you enter your scores. You can change your 'Handicap Index' at the same time you enter your score. Just tick the box alongside the 'Handicap Index' once you have selected the course you played and have entered the date you played. Your Master information will be updated, ready for next time. 2. Create your Unofficial Handicap If you do not have an offical Handicap, you can use several other websites to calculate a handicap. See our Links pages. YOU DO need your "corrected scores" for it to be reasonably accurate, and you can get that from your GoforGOLF record. Firstly, enter an estimated Handicap in GoforGOLF before entering your scores. Then use the "Corrected Scores" from our score report to enter into a Handicap calculator. Use the New handicap produced for the next 5 to 10 games, then use the Handicap calculator again. (To estimate a start handicap, subtract the course's par, from your average score - average your score over around 10 rounds, adjusting your score for any blowouts - that is, don't include 7's, 8's & 9's etc. include these as 6's). The more you repeat this process the more accurate your Handicap Index will become. This is ONLY an UNofficial Handicap, and will not be as accurate as an Official Handicap produced through a Club. 3. New Members - Welcome To help you enjoy GoforGOLF I make the following suggestions: a. Tick the 'Use USPGA Slope Rating for score entry' This will make GoforGOLF automatically calculate your course handicap from your Handicap Index. b. Select your Home or Default course. This can be the most used course you play, and it will automatically load when you 'Sign In'. You can still select other courses in the usual way, but, this will save you time when you play your own/usual course. Both these are accessed through the 'Change your Details' button on the green menu, once you have 'Signed In'. REMEMBER the more scorecards you enter, the better the analysis you will receive from GoforGOLF. __________________________________________________________ *** SPOT THE BALL SPONSOR REQUIRED We are looking for a NEW sponsor of the Spot the Ball competition. A ball that goes around the cup without falling in is said to have rimmed the hole, or to have ringed, skirted, lipped, lapped, or looped it. It may also be said to have curled, circled, or rolled around it, or to have done a tour, a circuit, a round trip, an orbit, or a buttonhook. There are one or two terms for as ball actually going into the cup, but they are used so seldom that it seems like a waste of space to include them here.
