There isn't much more to say, is there, when he completes 6 consecutive stroke play tournament wins, including 2 Majors. The British Open, followed by the Buick Open, The PGA Championship, WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, Deutsche Bank Championship, then the latest the WGC-American Express Championship. It has been seen as a disappointing effort by Tiger at the Ryder Cup, and said the burden of being the leading player in the TEAM took its toll. However, I feel the team thing IS not his style, and even if he had been playing his "A" game, the European Team would still have performed their wonderful win. It is neat to be from outside of Europe or USA, and so feel able to have an independent view of the Ryder Cup. What can not be disputed was the quality of the golf I view from both teams . . . superb . . . . . . We now approach the cut off for those on the edge of qualifying for their card for 2007. Many anxious and delicate rounds, where 1 or 2 places can mean a huge difference in the new year. A quick look at the US PGA Tour money list, shows John Cook and Paul Azinger just above the 125 level, and Rich Beem, Duffy Waldorf and Brad Faxon just below. As I say, an anxious time for many. . . . Enjoy the Golf Greg Paul I do invite and encourage you to send me your views on my comments to email greg@goforgolf.com __________________________________________________________ *** SEPTEMBER COMPETITION The winner of the September Spot the Ball is Hugh Henderson of Lower Hutt, New Zealand The winning position was m 11 Your one dozen golf balls are on their way to you shortly. See http://www.goforgolf.com/help.asp for more information. 2. Entering a NEW Course - STROKE Many terms in golf vary from country to country. When entering a new course into GoforGOLF the term 'Stroke' is often missinterpreted as your first score. However, it is necessary to enter the course, before you are able to enter your score. The term 'Stroke' refers to 'Stroke Index' which is often referred to as 'Handicap' on many scorecards. This is the rating of the hole between 1 and 18, where 1 is the hardest hole, and 18 is the easiest. Each hole must have a unique stroke. Don't get this confused with PAR, also know as Par Rating, which is the number of shots a zero handicap player is expected to take on that hole, usually 3, 4 or 5. 3. CIRCLED Scores Similarly, there is often confusion over the Circled Score function. A circled score takes place when you pick up your ball before completing the hole. Etiquette - If playing a friendly game, it is considered good etiquette to pick up your ball if you have strayed, so that you do not hold up the groups behind. In my country, when you pick up your ball on a hole, you normally enter a circled or adjusted score, for handicapping purposes. (The adjusted score entered is the score based on your handicap and the rating of the particular hole, that you would have needed to score to obtain one stableford point, while you actually receive zero stableford points). In GoforGOLF I suggest you enter an estimated score for the hole. An estimate of what you might have scored if you had continued. This is so that your score record is completed. Then tick the 'Circle' box for the hole when entering your score. GoforGOLF will then include zero stableford points, and calculate your 'corrected' score as stated above. It is this 'corrected score' that is used for handicapping purposes. (Remember . . . don't pick up your ball if you are competing in an official stroke play competition). Email me on . . . greg@goforgolf.com . . . and I will help you with any problems you may have with registering and entering your scorecards and courses. REMEMBER the more scorecards you enter, the better the analysis you will receive from GoforGOLF. __________________________________________________________ *** SPOT THE BALL SPONSOR REQUIRED We are looking for a NEW sponsor of the Spot the Ball competition.
