GoforGOLF . . . NEWSLETTER NINETY FIVE . . . GoforGOLF
Newsletter Number 95 from GoforGOLF ************************************************************************ Now in our 8TH YEAR with over ** 41,000 ** scorecards entered and courses from over 54 countries . . . and growing by the day. WE ARE PROUD TO HAVE CREATED THIS GOLFING ENVIRONMENT . . . ************************************************************************ IN THIS ISSUE *** THE 2007 Players Championship *** Competition Winner *** Holes in One and Eagles *** WIN ONE Dozen Premium Golf Balls *** HandiTIPS *** More Golf & Sports Links *** Lost Ball ************************************************************************ *** THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP 2007 The Player Championship has been repositioned in 2007 between the Masters (April) and the U S Open (June 14 to 17) spreading the major tournaments neatly one a month leading to the FedEx Cup Finals in late August. Well done PGA in creating an on going interest through the season, with the prospect of a KNOCK OUT style final series. As for the final winners checque, that is . . . horrific. Only part of the prize could solve the total financial woes of many a small town, let's hope it goes to someone who is that philanthropic. OR . . . perhap one who is interested in funding a terrific GoforGOLF Website that could do with a cash injection. The 2007 Players Championship . . . who is going to bet against Tiger, after his win in the Wachovia Championship, the lead up tournament to the Players Championship. Still I did notice Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh close by, and . . . Ernie Els hovering around and improving with every tournament, including a recent 5th in the BMW Asian Open. I intend to just sit back and watch . . . and keep you updated with results . . . *** BE IN TO WIN * * * Email me at greg@goforgolf.com with the "subject" - "Players" WITH your pick for the winner, and be in to win a copy of the CD "Play Better Golf" by top hypnotherapist Grant Boddington http://www.nzhypnosis.com/play-better-golf-cd.html If there is more than one correct entry, I will draw a winner or Two MASTERS - Zach Johnson surprised us all with his win, so no winner of the Play Better Golf CD. Still I have drawn a winner from the entries. John Francis . . . John, email me with contact details. *** FedEX CUP * * * Was it inevitable . . . ? Tiger taking the points lead of the FedEx Cup. AND with only 6 tournaments played . . . compared to 11, 12 & 13 tournaments by his closest competitors. If this was the World Cricket Cup, the World Rugby Cup or yachtings Americas Cup, you would have to say, Tiger is already in the "Playoffs - Semi Finals". See the results and FedEx Cup points on Slice o' News http://www.goforgolf.com/a_sliceonews.asp .......... I do invite and encourage you to send me your views on my comments to email greg@goforgolf.com Enjoy the Golf Greg Paul __________________________________________________________ *** APRIL COMPETITION There was no winner of the April Spot the Ball contest. WITH Analysis 'Like the Pros' Enter your scorecards into GoforGOLF AND create a record of your golf. GoforGOLF has been designed to be very flexible, while supplying you with a consistent record of your games and your results. The MORE scorecards you enter the better the analysis you will be able to receive. The Summary Report allows you to select a course, as well as select a period, 'From . . . to . . .'. Whatever period you wish, winter compared to summer, this month compared to last month etc. The Standard Report is a quick report for the last 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 days, or all games. The Standard Report only displays hole by hole averages, for gross, corrected and stableford scores, and for some fun, your best score on each hole. The ADVANCED Report gives you FULL flexibility of being able to select a course and any period you wish. You can use the Advanced Report even if you haven't entered any 'Advanced Scores'. If you have entered Advanced scorecards, you will ALSO receive analysis of your putts, fairways hit, Greens in regulation and more. Have a look at a sample report, click http://www.goforgolf.com/exampleadv.asp 2. Negative Handicaps (Are you better than Scratch) Many top golfers now have a Slope Rating Handicap that are less than scratch (zero). In this case, when entering such a handicap into GoforGOLF, it is necessary to enter it as a negative, e.g. -2.3 It may seem strange, but, GoforGOLF is set up for us normal golfers where our handicap, while stated as a plus, is actually deducted from our score. I am sure you will understand the requirement to enter your index as a minus. Otherwise, email me . . . GoforGOLF will then calculate your Stableford points correctly. Email me on . . . greg@goforgolf.com . . . and I will help you with any problems you may have with registering and entering your scorecards and courses. REMEMBER the more scorecards you enter, the better the analysis you will receive from GoforGOLF. __________________________________________________________ *** MORE GOLF & SPORTS LINKS One change in the 2007 schedule has THE PLAYERS Championship being played in May, so we do have "the 5th Major" this month to look forward to.
